Title: Project Engineer
Location: Chesapeake, VA
Duration: Direct hire, permanent
Pay: $70-110K/year
Under general direction, performs a variety of software and/or hardware engineering activities of analysis, design, or test nature. Participates on project teams and provides technical guidance to ensure specific project requirements are met. Plans, conducts, and may lead research, development, and/or installation of products and systems in conformance with engineering design and customer specifications. The Project Engineering team is an integral part of the Fleet Solutions operations and works closely with other departments such as Supply Chain, Quality, Business Development, and Management teams to provide recommendation and technical guidance to support overall Curtiss-Wright Corporation effort to be an industry leader in technology and engineering capability. Engineering activities support both domestic and international products/services.
Responsibilities:
- Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, and computer-generated reports.
- Develop, coordinate, and monitor various aspects of production, including selection of manufacturing, fabrication, and product verification methods.
- Research, design, develop, and validate manufacturing processes, tools, and/or jigs for a high mix / low volume manufacturing facility.
- Research, analyze, design, and develop fabrication and manufacturing process and provide guidance on the production and overhaul of Curtiss-Wright and partner OEM product line(s).
- Create, verify, and validate, production documentation such as work instructions, visual aids, and standard operational sequences for the manufacturing and overhaul of company products emphasizing standardized work.
- Provide product and process training support to both internal and external personnel of technical and non-technical trades.
- Create, verify, and release performance requirements for product and general engineering projects.
- Research, analyze, design, and develop product design and modernization proposals, specifications, manuals, and similar content for application feasibility.
- Maintain configuration management of products and process using current PDM, MRP, and or ERP systems.
- Monitor and manage assigned project schedules, tasks, and deliverables to ensure timely and budgeted completion.
- Research, analyze, design, and develop processes and procedures in compliance with local, federal, and international environmental, health, and safety guidelines.
- Research, analyze, design, and develop processes and procedures in compliance company and industry Quality standards and guidelines.
- Support supply chain activities such as supplier selection, validation, and technical guidance on the fabrication and manufacturing of inbound and outbound materials and subcontracted services.
Qualifications:
- Must be a US Citizen and capable to obtain and maintain a security clearance
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering discipline such as, but not limited to: Mechanical, Electrical, Systems, and/or Industrial Engineering.
- Minimum 3+ years’ experience in one of more of the following: product, process, and/or system design, development, and product life cycle management
- Experience using common industry CAD tools such as, but not limited to: Solidworks, AutoCAD
- Experience using common industry PDM / PLM tools.
- Working knowledge of MRP/ERP systems and the interrelationships of such systems with upstream design and development processes and downstream production processes
- Experience in Ship Repair and/or Technical Service Industry
- Experience using Oracle ERP system.
- Knowledge of high volume / high reliability pump and compressor system
- Knowledge of industry standards and guideline such as: NAVSEA, OSHA, and MIL
